The Prague Castle complex is enormous and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was first built in the 9th century as a wooden building with a raised rampart around it but was rebuilt and expanded with additional buildings as each ruler made their mark. There were improvements and significant reconstructions over hundreds of years. Notice what they call the sgraffito technique of layered plaster and colour to produce a 3D effect on the building at top left.
